What is On-site Calibration & Machine Precision Verification?

Together, on-site calibration and machine verification help you understand, document and improve the dimensional capability of your production equipment.

On-site Calibration

On-site calibration means that our metrologists perform calibration of measuring instruments and equipment directly at your premises instead of in the laboratory.

Machine Precision Verification

Machine verification focuses on the dimensional performance of your machine tools – for example CNC machining centres, lathes or grinding machines. Using a Renishaw laser interferometer, we:

– Scope of Services

Scope of Our On-site Services

Together, on-site calibration and machine verification help you understand, document and improve the dimensional capability of your production equipment.

1. On-site Calibration of Length Measuring Instruments

Based on your order, we can perform calibration of length and plane angle measuring instruments directly at your plant, in line with our accredited scope and procedures.

2. Length Calibration with Laser Interferometer up to 20m

For applications where long travel distances are critical, we use a Renishaw laser interferometer for direct length calibration.

3. Machine Tool Verification – Positioning Accuracy & Straightness

We carry out verification of positioning accuracy and verification of straightness of machine tool axes with a Renishaw laser interferometer.

On-site Instrument Calibration – Details

Typical instruments suitable for on-site calibration include for example:

The exact list of instruments and measuring ranges is defined in our accreditation scope and agreed individually in the quotation.

Machine Tool Verification – Typical Cases

The result is a quantitative picture of machine error over the travel length, which can be used by your maintenance and process engineers to:
Typical cases include CNC machining centres (linear axes X, Y, Z), CNC lathes and turning centres, and other machine tools where dimensional accuracy is crucial.
– Advantages

Why Choose On-site Calibration & Machine Precision Verification?

Reduced Downtime, No Transport Risk

There is no need to transport heavy or sensitive machines. Calibration and verification can be scheduled around production (e.g. during planned stops). You save time and logistics costs.

Direct Insight into Real Production Conditions

We see your machines in their actual environment (temperature, foundation, load), connected to your control system, with real axis lengths and setups. That gives a realistic picture of dimensional behaviour in everyday operation.

One Partner for Dimensional Metrology

This allows you to cooperate with one specialised partner for gauges, measuring instruments, machine tools, and CMM measurements.

Accreditation

SNAS-accredited Calibration & Testing Laboratory

Kalibra s.r.o. is accredited by the Slovak National Accreditation Service (SNAS) as:

Calibration laboratory in the field of length and plane angle, and Testing laboratory for dimensional measurements on a coordinate measuring machine (CMM).

The accreditation scope includes, among others, length calibration with a laser interferometer, which is the basis for our length-related on-site services and machine verification. Our competence is demonstrated by compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and our accreditation is recognised within the European accreditation framework.

Request an On-site Calibration / Machine Verification

If you want to verify the dimensional performance of your machine tools, minimise downtime while keeping your measuring instruments traceable, or plan a combined on-site and laboratory calibration campaign, our metrology team will help you design the right scope and schedule.

You can also contact us directly by phone or email to discuss your machines, measurement requirements and possible dates for an on-site visit.

FAQ

How do I request an on-site calibration or machine verification visit?

You can contact us via email or phone. To prepare a suitable proposal, we typically need:

  • Your company and site where the service will be performed,
  • List of instruments to be calibrated on-site (type, quantity, approximate ranges),
  • List of machines to be verified (type, axis lengths),
  • Your preferred time frame (dates, shifts, planned shutdowns),
  • Whether you also need dimensional calibration in our laboratory for other gauges.

Based on this information, we will prepare a tailored quotation and schedule.

For safe and reliable on-site calibration and machine verification, we usually require:

  • Sufficient space around the machine or instruments,
  • Stable power supply for our equipment,
  • Possibility to attach laser interferometer optics and accessories,
  • Cooperation of your maintenance or machine operators during the measurement.

Any specific requirements (e.g. access to crane, special safety rules) can be discussed in advance and included in the service plan.

The duration depends mainly on:

  • The number and type of instruments to be calibrated,
  • The number of machine axes and their travel lengths,
  • Accessibility and setup time at your site.

For this reason, we always specify the expected duration and the optimal sequence of work directly in our offer or in the follow-up agreement.

Yes. A common approach is:

  • We perform on-site calibration and machine verification for large machines and selected measuring instruments,
  • At the same time, you send us other gauges and instruments for laboratory calibration (dimensional calibration page).

This way, you use the visit efficiently while also keeping your gauge system up to date.

For on-site calibration of instruments and for length calibrations performed within the accredited scope, you receive calibration certificates.

For machine tool verification with the laser interferometer, you receive measurement reports with the evaluated axis behaviour (e.g. positioning error and straightness over the travel). The exact form of documentation is agreed according to your needs.
